BoxSofa buying guide

What size fitted sheet will fit your sofa bed?

Choose a fitted sheet from the exact sofa bed’s usable sleeping length and width, the thickness it must wrap, and the accessible corner shape. A single-seat label or an unfolded furniture dimension cannot confirm the fit. Compare those details with the sheet’s own stated size and mattress-thickness range; keep missing measurements open before buying either item.

Can you choose bedding from single, double or seat-count labels?

Use those names to find candidates, then compare the dimensions of the particular sleeping surface and sheet. A sofa’s seat-count category does not identify a bedding size. Keep a sheet’s centimetre dimensions beside its size name, especially when comparing products described for different markets. Matching names alone leave the physical comparison unfinished. Swyft’s Model 04 FAQ distinguishes bottom-sheet size and shape and discusses flat and fitted options. That is useful merchant context, not confirmation for a BoxSofa bed. A duvet or pillowcase sharing a size name also does not establish the fit of an elasticated bottom sheet. Start a separate record for each exact sofa-bed and sheet combination.

Which published BoxSofa dimensions are useful starting points?

Use the figures with their original mode labels intact. Peanut BS-PEANUTSOFABED-01 lists approximate sofa and unfolded dimensions; Shar Pei BS-SHARPEISOFABED-01 lists an approximate unfolded rectangle. The table preserves those entries. Neither entry separately identifies the usable sleeping surface or the thickness that an elasticated sheet must wrap. Tri-Fold BS-TRIFOLDSOFA-01 distinguishes sofa, half-unfolded and flat layouts. Its flat-layout field includes 63 cm, but does not label that number as mattress thickness. Do not put 63 cm, or Peanut’s 35 cm, into a sheet-pocket field by assumption. These are published product records, not our measurements or a bedding compatibility chart. Confirm what each dimension describes before using it.

How do you measure the surface that the sheet must cover?

Follow the model’s setup and recovery instructions first, then identify the documented sleeping position and the surface intended to carry bedding. Measure that surface’s usable length and width at named endpoints. Keep arms, a raised back or other furniture outside the measurement unless the instructions identify them as part of the sleeping surface. Record whether a figure is supplied or personally measured. For an irregular or divided surface, make a simple outline and record the relevant changes in width instead of drawing an imaginary rectangle. Ask the seller to confirm unclear boundaries. A length measured across the whole open furniture footprint may answer a room-planning question while still leaving the bedding area unknown. Use the rental sofa-bed guide for that separate room check.

What is sheet pocket depth, and why is it not bed height?

The sheet’s depth specification concerns the thickness it is designed to wrap at the edge. Height from the floor includes furniture below that surface and cannot supply this measurement. Identify the actual mattress or upholstered sleeping layer involved; do not assume that it is removable or that every edge can accept elastic. For example, IKEA Spain’s DVALA 106.212.40 separately lists 140 × 200 cm and a maximum mattress thickness of 26 cm. Those are specifications for that sheet, not a BoxSofa recommendation. Compare your proposed sheet’s own stated range with the relevant layer. If the listing gives a pocket dimension without explaining the supported mattress thickness, ask the bedding seller how to interpret it.

What changes at corners, joins or attached sections?

Check where the elastic would actually sit. A rectangular outer footprint does not show whether four corners are accessible, whether the sleeping surface has an irregular end, or whether an attached section interrupts the route around the edge. Ask for an identified open-position photograph or diagram when those details are unclear. Record any join, fixed cushion or raised boundary that affects the proposed sheet. Do not detach upholstery, lift an entire sofa or force elastic through a connection to imitate an ordinary mattress. A flat sheet is a different option to discuss with the seller, not an automatic remedy for every shape. The aim is to compare an intended bedding arrangement with the model’s documented design.

Should you include a protector or topper in the measurements?

Include an additional layer only if you actually intend to use it and the sofa-bed instructions support it. Record whether the sheet will wrap the sleeping layer alone or a permitted combination. Any added thickness belongs in that combination’s record; it does not justify choosing a larger length or width by guesswork. This guide prescribes no universal extra allowance. Keep the product identities separate: sofa upholstery, protector, topper and fitted sheet can have different care instructions. Permission to wash a purchased sheet does not make the sofa cover removable or washable. Use the cover-washing guide for the upholstery question. A styled photograph with bedding does not establish which items are supplied or approve an additional mattress.

Can a sheet that fits stay on when the sofa bed folds?

Open-bed fit and permission during conversion are separate checks. Follow the exact model’s instructions about removing sheets, protectors, toppers and loose bedding. A sheet can cover an open surface while still having no documented place in the folded arrangement. Do not treat elastic corners or a thin fabric as permission to leave it inside. Before buying, ask which bedding must be removed and where you will keep it while the sofa is in use. Do not assume the sofa contains bedding storage. If instructions do not answer the conversion question, keep it unresolved and obtain a model-specific answer before attempting that arrangement. This article supplies no alternative folding procedure or claim of suitability for nightly sleeping.

How do you complete the four-step record before buying?

First identify the exact variant and documented open configuration. Second record the usable sleeping length and width. Third check the thickness to be wrapped and corner shape separately from overall furniture height. Fourth compare the actual sheet label and save the decision with conversion instructions and unanswered questions. Ask: For this SKU, what sleeping area and edge thickness should bedding cover, which corners are accessible, and what must be removed before conversion? Both images are generic AI editorial illustrations. The folded sheet beside the open sofa is not shown fitting it; the diagram explains the four checks. Neither image is a product photograph, scale drawing or physical fit test. Sources checked on 30 October 2026. Original editorial record. A practical checklist before you decide

  1. Identify the exact sofa-bed variant and its documented open configuration.
  2. Record the usable sleeping length and width, with measurement points and source.
  3. Check the thickness to be wrapped and corner shape separately from overall furniture height.
  4. Compare the actual sheet label and save the fit decision, conversion instructions and unresolved points.
