Will a Compressed Sofa Fit Through My Door, Stairs or Lift?

The finished sofa can be much larger than the sealed delivery package. Measure the complete route from the building entrance to the room, then compare its smallest usable opening with the packaged dimensions shown on the product page.

1. Record the packaged dimensions

Use the packaged length, width and height for the exact sofa variant, not only the finished sofa dimensions. Keep the package sealed until it reaches the room where the sofa will be opened. Product sizes can vary, so do not reuse measurements from a different model.

2. Measure every doorway

Measure the clear opening between the parts that cannot move, including the narrowest width and usable height. Account for handles, door closers, thresholds and fixed trim. If a door can be removed safely, confirm that with the property owner or installer before relying on the extra space.

3. Check corridors and stair turns

Record corridor width, stair width, landing depth, ceiling height and the space around the tightest turn. Handrails, radiators and low ceilings can reduce the usable route. A package that passes through a doorway may still need enough room to rotate on a landing.

4. Measure the lift inside and outside

Measure the lift-door width and height, then the internal width, depth and height. Check the load limit and the space directly outside the lift on every floor. Do not assume the cabin dimensions are the same as the entrance opening.

5. Compare the smallest point

The delivery route is controlled by its smallest usable point and its tightest turn. Compare all three package dimensions with the route and consider whether the package can be carried flat, upright or carefully rotated. Leave a practical margin rather than planning around an exact friction fit.

6. Ask BoxSofa to review the route

Send the product link, packaged dimensions and your doorway, corridor, staircase or lift measurements to info@boxsofa.eu. Photos of the tightest turn are useful. BoxSofa can help compare the figures before purchase, although the customer or carrier remains responsible for confirming safe physical access on site.
