BoxSofa buying guide

Does an ottoman automatically come with or match your sofa?

No. An ottoman in a room photograph is not enough to establish that it is included, and a similar shape does not establish a suitable pairing. Check the selected sofa variant and named parts, then compare the companion’s own dimensions and documented role. Keep “listed in this combination”, “available separately” and “confirmed for my intended use” as separate answers.

How do you check whether the ottoman is actually listed with the sofa?

Use the selected variant’s name and component description, rather than the whole room image. Remy BS-REMYSOFA-10 lists a two-arm double seat, 200 × 100 × 64 cm, plus an ottoman, 95 × 90 × 37 cm. That identifies this combination; it does not add the ottoman to other Remy variants. Save the exact selection and the named parts together. If the companion is a separate item, keep its own reference alongside the sofa reference. An accessories carousel or a photograph showing two pieces does not replace that record. If the title, selected option and supplied-parts statement disagree, resolve that specific discrepancy before choosing.

Are ottoman, footstool and chaise extension interchangeable descriptions?

No. Keep the merchant’s name for the piece and separately state the job you want it to do. A foot support, an extra seat, a tray surface and an attached sofa extension are different uses. The name alone does not confirm all four. Swyft’s 2021 Model 01/02 designer interview distinguishes its sofa-height ottoman from its footstool, which is 5.5 cm lower. That is a description of those designs, not a universal height rule. For a BoxSofa pairing, retain the use that its own information supports. Follow the separate modular-direction guide if the proposal involves joining pieces or changing a sofa configuration.

Does the same collection or colour name prove a match?

No. A shared collection name helps you find candidates, but the record still needs the exact sofa variant and companion reference. Treat visual coordination, dimensional alignment and permitted use as three separate questions. A piece can look coordinated while its top sits at a different level; that may suit a footrest role without making it a sofa extension. Record the upholstery or colour identifiers that matter to your choice. Do not infer identical covers or interchangeable components from similar catalogue pictures. Use the colour-photo guide for colour evidence; this worksheet keeps the two selected identities linked so changing one does not silently carry over the earlier pairing decision.

Which heights can you compare without confusing the measurements?

Compare the companion’s top with the sofa’s seating surface under stated, comparable conditions. Overall sofa height may include the back and does not supply seat height. Ask what surface was measured, whether a cushion is included and whether the figure describes an unloaded or occupied condition when that distinction matters. Swyft’s Model 10 Ottoman page lists overall height 47 cm and seat height 45 cm. Keep those labels separate; neither is a BoxSofa specification. Likewise, the final number in a three-dimension field is not automatically a usable seat height. Use the seat-dimension guide for personal sitting preferences. There is no universal ideal height difference or comfort guarantee in this pairing record.

How do you compare the two footprints before choosing?

Draw each piece’s finished outer outline separately and label the dimension directions. Then place them in the proposed relationship: in front, to one side or apart. An ottoman’s width and depth are not extra sofa seat width, and two separate footprints do not become one combined rectangle unless the planned positions actually produce one. Keep the intended gap visible on the sketch. If a top is narrower than the adjoining seat, note the offset rather than stretching the drawing to make them align. The sketch compares geometry; it does not prove stability, connection or a comfortable leg position. Refer to the modular guide for joining permission and assess room circulation separately.

What if a set is named but the companion’s measurements are missing?

Keep the named parts and the missing dimensions in different fields. Bubble BS-BUBBLESOFA-05 is named single seat + ottoman, but its finished-size field is 118 × 116 × 65 cm without a separate ottoman breakdown. Do not assign that field to the ottoman or borrow a measurement from another model. A useful request names precisely what is missing: the companion’s finished width, depth and top height, the sofa’s seat height, and which parts each number describes. If the companion has no separate SKU, identify it by the combination SKU and its named part. A missing part-level figure is still missing even when the combination’s title is clear.

How should you use the worksheet when comparing two options?

Make a separate copy for each actual pairing and enter the source and date beside each fact. Use “unknown” for a missing measurement; do not turn an empty cell into a pass. You can complete the identity, listed-parts and footprint rows even while a surface-height question remains open. For a complete set, one SKU may identify several named parts. For a separate companion, retain both item references. Mark the decision “keep”, “revise” or “defer” according to the role you actually need. If you change a variant, update its part and measurement rows before reusing the decision. This is a purchase record, not a rating of product quality or a physical fit test.

What are the four steps shown in the illustrations?

First save the exact variant and companion reference. Second record the listed parts and intended role. Third compare the correctly labelled heights and finished footprints. Fourth save the dated decision, including any essential information still needed. These steps can distinguish a documented set from a proposed separate purchase without assuming that either suits every use. A practical checklist before you decide

  1. Save the exact sofa variant and companion or combination reference.
  2. Record the listed parts and the role you want the companion to serve.
  3. Compare corresponding heights and each piece’s finished footprint.
  4. Save the dated pairing record and resolve essential gaps before choosing.
